Calculating Your Average Weekly Wage

Your Average Weekly Wage (AWW) is calculated based on your total gross earnings (before taxes) from the 52 weeks prior to your injury, including overtime. This calculation comes directly from the New York State Workers' Compensation Board. The AWW formula differs depending on whether you worked 4, 5, or 6 days a week.

Once your AWW is determined, to calculate your actual workers' compensation benefits, you multiply your AWW by 2/3rds. This gives you the weekly benefit amount you'll receive, up to the maximum allowable benefit set by the New York State Workers' Compensation Board.
